Active Ingredient
Phenylbutazone (as tasteless granules) 1 g per sachet. Phenylbutazone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent with analgesic and anti-pyretic action as well.
Action
Equipalazone granules have been encapsulated to mask the odour and taste and make it easy to dose and increase stability. It may be mixed with dry feed as it has been protected against premature reaction by encapsulation. Oral absorption rate can vary with individual horses.
Dosage & Administration
For oral administration only. Contents of sachet may be mixed well with a little dry bran or oats. Discontinue treatment if no response is evident after four to five days treatment.
Horses: 2.2 - 8.8 mg/kg/day as directed by a veterinary surgeon. Reduce daily dose to lowest level producing desired clinical response. Example regimen (450 kg horse) 2 sachets twice daily (4.4 mg/kg, bid) for the first day, then 1 sachet twice daily (2.2 mg/kg bid) for 4 days, then 1 sachet once daily (2.2 mg/kg sid) or on alternate days. Ponies: 2.2 – 4.4 mg/kg/day as directed by the veterinary surgeon. Reduce daily dose to the lowest level producing desired clinical response. Example regimen (225 kg pony) give ½ sachet twice daily (2.2 mg/kg bid) for 4 days, then ½ sachet once daily (2.2 mg/kg sid) or on alternate days.
